In June of 2023, USC Upward Bound celebrated the high school graduation of 125 participants. UB honored their academic and personal achievements both within and outside the program, confident that this exceptional class will undoubtebly go on to cross greater milestones in the following years.
Upward Bound has been operating at USC under the department of university relations for more than four decades. They are one of the many federally funded programs in TRiO that offer services that prepare low income and first generation high school for college. These services include tutoring, counseling/mentoring, career opportunities, and help with financial aid applications. They also offer a summer residential program that places students in a college setting. In this 6-week program, participants dorm on USC’s campus and take college-level courses for credit.
